Project brief
A complete DO-254 Hardware Accomplishment Summary (HAS) and associated certification documentation package for a Design Assurance Level B ARINC 429 bus controller implemented in an Xilinx Artix-7 FPGA. The HAS summarizes how all DO-254 objectives were met from hardware planning through requirements, design, implementation, verification, and configuration management phases.
The case study concerns certification-support documentation for a specified hardware baseline. It does not imply a new approval or independently verified compliance finding.
The engineering challenge
Summarize hardware lifecycle evidence without losing the trace from requirements to design and verification.
Engineering approach
- Organize planning, requirements, implementation, and verification references.
- Connect configuration records and problem reports to the hardware baseline.
- Present objective-by-objective evidence and audit preparation material.
Features & capabilities
- Hardware Plans: PHAC, HVP, HCMP, HDC — 4 plan documents
- Hardware Requirements Document (HRD): 143 HRDs traced to system requirements
- Hardware Design Document (HDD): schematic, FPGA architecture, PCB layout
- Hardware Verification Results (HVR): test cases, procedures, and results
- Configuration Management Records: version control, problem reports, change history
- Tool Qualification Records for HDL simulator and synthesis tool
- Traceability matrices: system req → HRD → design → verification (bidir)
- Stage of Involvement (SOI) audit preparation and response documentation
