Project brief

Interface Control Document (ICD) defining all interfaces between 14 Line Replaceable Units (LRUs) in a regional aircraft avionics suite. The document establishes the authoritative reference for all electrical connector pin assignments, data bus protocols and message definitions, mechanical mounting interfaces, environmental classifications, and EMC interface requirements for the avionics system integration.

The document serves as an integration reference across the avionics suite. The explanatory architecture represents information ownership and exchange rather than an actual system wiring drawing.

The engineering challenge

Prevent integration ambiguity across electrical, data, mechanical, and environmental interfaces.

Engineering approach

  1. Organize each LRU's interface definitions around a controlled reference.
  2. Specify connector, message, timing, and mounting information in a consistent format.
  3. Maintain the stated change process so downstream teams can track interface revisions.
